MSC Cruises’ newest mega ship, MSC World America, is one step closer to her debut this April. The vessel has successfully completed the deep-water intensive systems tests during a final sea trial in the Atlantic Ocean.

MSC World America will be MSC Cruises’ 23rd ship. It’s the second ship in the line’s World class following MSC World Europa, which launched in December 2022. World America will have many of the same features as World Europa, but with some reimagined venues and concepts tailored for the U.S. market.

The sea trials checked the performance of the ship’s engines, maneuverability, fuel consumption, safety systems, speed, and stopping distances. World America will now receive her final finishing touches at Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France before being officially delivered to MSC on March 27th.

MSC World America will be officially named during a ceremony on April 9th at MSC Cruises’ new cruise terminal in Miami — the largest cruise terminal in the world.

The ship’s maiden voyage will be a celebratory sailing to MSC Cruises’ private island in the Bahamas, Ocean Cay. World America‘s official inaugural season will begin on April 12th as it operates alternating seven-night eastern and western Caribbean cruises. Port calls will include Puerto Plata, San Juan, Costa Maya, Cozumel, Roatán, and Ocean Cay.

MSC World America comes in at a whopping 216,638 gross tons and is 1,093 feet long. There are 2,614 guest cabins, able to accommodate up to 6,762 passengers. The ship features 18 bars and lounges and 19 dining venues, including four main dining rooms, two buffets, two MSC Yacht Club restaurants, and six additional specialty restaurants.

New dining concepts on board include Greek restaurant Paxos and the only Eataly restaurant at sea, along with new complimentary fast casual options. Two brand-new lounge concepts are also debuting on MSC World America: the All-Stars Sports Bar and The Loft — a multi-purpose venue for comedy, karaoke, and more.

There are two additional World-class ships on order for MSC Cruises: MSC World Asia with a scheduled delivery in 2026 and a not-yet-named fourth vessel set for a 2027 debut.
